{"id":68,"date":"2023-03-09T10:53:17","date_gmt":"2023-03-09T10:53:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.redithosting.co.uk\/?p=68"},"modified":"2024-09-13T19:23:42","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T19:23:42","slug":"verisign-announces-another-com-price-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.redithosting.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/03\/09\/verisign-announces-another-com-price-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Verisign announces another .com price rise"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have just received the following notification from our registration provider of the <strong><em>.com<\/em><\/strong> domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<article class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-4fc3f8e1 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Verisign have today announced a 7% increase in .com prices to take effect on 1st September 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wholesale price for .com domains will increase from by 87-cents. This does not include ICANN\u2019s 18-cent fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under its agreement with ICANN and the U.S. government, Verisign is allowed to increase prices by 7% per year in the last four years of every six-year contract term. This will be the third hike of this contract term, and the company is expected to increase .com prices to again in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Domain registrants can renew .com domains for multiple years at today\u2019s prices if they do so before September 1.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/article>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We strongly advise any customer who has a <strong><em>.com<\/em><\/strong> domain name and they are in a position to, too renew any <strong>.com<\/strong> domain name in advance before the price rise in September either for the 1 year or for multiple years if you know that you wish to keep the domain for longer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have just received the following notification from our registration provider of the .com domains.
